What future for the Kyoto Protocol’s Joint Implementation Mechanism after 2012?

Fondation EurActiv organised for Tuesday 1 February a lunchtime Stakeholder Workshop on the future of the Kyoto Protocol’s Joint Implementation Mechanism. The workshop was organised with the support of CDC Climat.

Programme:

  • What are the results of the UNFCCC meeting in Cancún for the future of JI? What are the foreseen scenarios?
  • How can the EU ensure the continuity of JI for all actors involved in the EU ETS market?
  • To what extent is JI complementary to the public policies and ETS?
  • Will the European Commission decide to anticipate the implementation of the measures included in the EU ETS directive to guarantee this continuity?
  • How is JI articulated within national CO2 reduction policies?
  • What types or projects are likely to be implemented in Europe?
  • How should the financial sector be involved to ensure JI’s success?
  • How to involve industrialists?
